Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Ruinart’s NV Brut Rose – just over half of which is Pinot, and close to 20% of which constituted red wine – offers almost kir-like scents (I beg that this not be taken as derogatory!) of fresh apple infused with framboise liqueur. A tang of fresh (and, naturally, prominently seedy) pomegranate and a bittersweet twist of orange rind lend vivacity and invigoration while helping balance the wine’s roughly nine grams of residual sugar, leading to a finish of delightful and unabashed fruitiness allied to subtle sweetness. Amusingly, here is both a relatively rare instance of the premium that is asked by a famous Grand Marque for rose being modest, as well as of its being qualitatively justified. Enjoy this one over the coming year.
