Description
Rietsch Vieille Vigne Sylvaner is a white wine made from 100% Sylvaner grapes from vineyards that are more than 40 years old. The soil used for the cultivation of the vines is clay-limestone, determining a particular flavour in the fruit.
It is defined as a light, soft and delicate wine, which when tasted leaves a particular flavour between mineral and vegetal, with a slightly bitter finish with great persistence.
Like others from this winery, the intervention of chemical elements is minimal or non-existent, revealing the natural expression of the grape processing on its fine lees.
Winemaking
The Sylvaner grape harvesting process is carried out under strict artisanal techniques, which guarantee that the fruit arrives at the winery at an optimum level of ripeness, without any percentage of fermentation.
The grapes are macerated without destemming for 10 days and then undergo an alcoholic fermentation process in vats, using our own yeasts. After this phase, the must is aged for 6 months in large capacity barrels.
Taste
Rietsch Vieille Vigne Sylvaner is a wine with nuanced aromas of fruit, flowers and vegetables, with a mineral taste balanced by the bitter taste typical of the Sylvaner grape. It is also persistent on the palate.
A light wine with persistence
When we talk about the Sylvaner grape type, we cannot fail to highlight the characteristic bitterness it brings to Rietsch’s Vieille Vigne Sylvaner wine, however, this wine also has characteristics that define it as light and persistent in the mouth. It is a very exclusive wine to accompany game dishes.
