Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The 2010 Cisma is sourced from the La Valcabado vineyard that was planted in 1925 and belonged to Carlos’s great-grandparents (Jenaro San Pedro, who originally planted El Pison) and was bought back into the family in 2004. It is pure Tempranillo raised in new French oak for 24 months. It has a powerful nose with noticeable oak punctuated by blackberry, mulberry and raspberry. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins and succulent, glycerin-tinged blackberry, raspberry and briary. The minerality is a little lost underneath the oak at the moment and it needs a little more delineation towards the finish, but it should age nicely over the next ten years. Drink 2014-2024.
