Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The 2020 Monastrell – Alicante Bouschet – Giró is a blend of 80% Monastrell, 27% Giró and just a 3% Alicante Bouschet whose nose is dominated by the Monastrell aromatics. It’s very pure and basically unoaked but with structure, power and balance to live and develop in bottle. The inspiration is the unoaked wines from Charvin in Châteauneuf du Pape; it matured in tank with no makeup, with full ripeness and very good freshness and balance. It fermented with 30% full clusters and natural yeasts and is ripe but without over-ripeness, juicy, pure and tasty, with very fine tannins. 25,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2021.
