Description
Occhipinti SP68 Bianco is a white wine made from Albanello and zibibibbo grapes by Arianna Occhipinti, under the Terre Siciliane appellation in Sicily, Italy.
The grapes come from vineyards with an average age of 15 years, located at 280 metres above sea level on red sand and limestone soils.
These grapes are cultivated following the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture, without the use of chemical products such as herbicides, pesticides and systemic fungicides.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand and a careful selection of the grapes is carried out, followed by a simple and natural vinification. The must remains in contact with the skins for 15 days and ferments with its indigenous yeasts. The work in the winery is carried out with little interventionist guidelines and with simple and traditional procedures.
The wine is aged for 6 months in cement tanks, aged on its lees and without any filtering.
Taste
Occhipinti SP68 Bianco is an aromatic and elegant white wine. The nose is floral, citrus, fruity and herbal. The palate is light and frank, with a fresh, almost herbal note and a dry finish.
A fragrant and distinguished red wine
This wine is named after a narrow stone road from three thousand years ago. In Sicily, this is the SP68 road and if you know anything about Sicilian wines, you will be familiar with this road, as it was the oldest wine route ever heard of.
This white wine is perfect as an aperitif or a romantic dinner and to accompany rice dishes, white meats, white fish, cold meats, salads and seafood.
And you, have you tried this wine that comes from respect for the land and the vineyard? Try it and tell us what you think!
