Description
The Mas Coutelou winery is one of the oldest in France, and on its 13 hectares, Jeff Coutelou has made a great effort to rescue his vineyards and cultivate the main varieties of grapes native to the south of France.
These same grapes are used to produce one of the best natural wines in existence, Mas Coutelou L’Oublié.
Winemaking
This natural red wine is made from Syrah, Carignan and Grenache grapes grown on clay soils, with limestone and some flint and marl.
It is made using the solera method, i.e. it has no vintage and is made with mixed harvests.
The grapes are harvested by hand when they are at optimum ripeness. Then, in the winery, they are fermented with indigenous yeasts and the resulting wine is blended with several aged vintages. Each year, a certain percentage of the aged wine is extracted and blended with the new wine. On the other hand, the solera is refilled with new wine.
With the Mas Coutelou L’Oublié wine, the winegrower Jeff Coutelou has shown that by working with traditional methods, through a process that requires a lot of effort and patience, without the use of chemicals and respecting the cycles, it is possible to obtain the best results.
Taste
This is a concentrated red wine with aromas of red fruits and hints of spices. It is a natural wine with chewy tannins and spicy acidity, calm and young, but with a touch of maturity.
The unforgettable
The organic red wine Mas Coutelou L’Oublié, and is the best choice to accompany spicy dishes, red meats, grilled meats, game and poultry, as well as risottos.
Although its name means “the forgotten one”, as it is a wine without a vintage, this wine is totally unforgettable for those who try it.
The Mas Coutelou Winery offers you a natural wine of great quality, with which you can accompany your dishes and surprise your guests, who will surely be fascinated by its aromas and flavour.
