Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
2019 was a warm and dry low-yielding year, somewhat similar to 2015, and the 2019 Reserva could be the modern version of the 2015—a round, lush and approachable Reserva that is perfumed and fruit-driven, with spices in the background. It’s a hedonist cuvée of 95% Tempranillo and 5% other grapes from some of the oldest grapes in the village. It fermented in concrete with indigenous yeasts followed by a slow malolactic in 228-liter French oak barrels, mostly used, where the wine matured for 35 months. It reveals very good integration of the oak that is neatly folded into the wine. It shows the tannic structure of the 2019 vintage. 23,875 bottles and 430 magnums produced. It was bottled in September 2022.

Winemaking
Fermented with indigenous yeasts with whole clusters in oak barrels. Aged for 29 months in French oak barrels. Bottled unfiltered and unfined.
Description
Dominio del Águila Reserva is a red wine made with 95% Tempranillo grapes and a minimum of Blanca del país, Garnacha and Bobal.
This wine has been crafted from a harmonious blend of red and white grape varieties by the Dominio del Águila winery in the town of La Aguilera under the Ribera del Duero appellation.
The grapes used come from vines more than a century old in La Aguilera, in Burgos, planted on sandy-clay soils at 900 metres above sea level.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand. For the production of Dominio del Águila Reserva, the fermentation process takes place with indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks, and the grapes are traditionally crushed whole, without destemming.
The wine obtained is aged for 29 months in French oak barrels, rounded off and bottled.
Taste
Dominio del Águila Reserva is a red wine with fruity aromas and herbal notes. It is tender, expressive and aromatic.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and well-structured, with a lively acidity that adds freshness, a fruity passage, pleasant tannins and a lingering finish with a fine bitterness. It is a classic wine!
A balanced and expressive wine
Dominio del Águila Reserva is a Ribera del Duero of great subtlety and delicate freshness thanks to the dominance of the Tempranillo variety in its production.
It is the winery’s flagship wine created to try to be a representation of the people of La Aguilera: fine, serious and distinguished.
In the gastronomic field, this wine is especially recommended for business lunches or dinners with friends and will go perfectly with stewed dishes, game or a good Iberian ham.
And you, have you already tried this magnificent wine? Tell us what you think!
