Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Like the rest of the 2020s, the barrel sample of the 2020 La Diva is also lower in alcohol than any previous vintage, at a moderate 13.3%. It had a very long, 53-day maceration with basically no pumping overs after it finished fermenting. The wine has been in five Burgundian barrels since November 2020. The nose of this is akin to a grand cru Burgundyâfloral, perfumed, elegant and nuanced, expressive and completely primary, like the aging in barrel is going very slowly. There is a long way to go; the 2020 wines feel very ready, and the Ă©levage might be shorter, but for sure it will be in (used) barrel for another six to eight months. It looks like the finest wine from Dominio de ES to date. And incredibly enough, this was a bumper crop, so there will be more wine than ever. So, people might actually be able to find it… If they can afford it is a different story.
