Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
One of my favorite wines in the lineup, year in, year out, is the 2016 Collioure Arqueta which is 40% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 25% Carignan and 5% Grenache Gris. From one of the most beautiful appellations in the world, with steep, schist slopes running straight into the Mediterranean Sea, this beauty was vinified in concrete tanks and aged in demi-muids. Notes of strawberries, black raspberries, sappy flowers and iodine all flow to an elegant, seamless, silky red that has building tannin and a great finish. The tannin are substantial, but I suspect theyâll be less noticeable once bottled.
