Winemaking
Fermented with indigenous yeasts in open French oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation in 500-litre demi-muids. Aged for 12 months in used French oak barrels.
Description
César Márquez presents the incredible Pico Ferreira wine. Its creator comes from a family that has been dedicated to winemaking for many years. His uncle, the winemaker Rául Pérez, has twice been recognised as the best winemaker in the world, and it is from him that César has learned much of what he knows.
His wines are made using traditional methods, because César Márquez believes in organic and environmentally friendly agriculture, as well as working in the winery with minimum intervention.
Winemaking
César Márquez Pico Ferreira wine is made from grapes of different varieties, mainly Mencía vines grown on slate and clay soils at an altitude of over 700 metres above sea level. As the roots do not penetrate the rock well, the bunches are usually smaller than usual.
The grapes are harvested by hand, then the whole bunches are fermented with indigenous yeasts in open barrels inside the winery. Ageing lasts one year and is carried out in used French oak barrels.
Taste
This cherry red wine has some violet notes. It is a complex, harmonious and expressive wine, with a floral and elegant aroma. It tastes of ripe red fruits, as well as toasted, mineral and ageing notes.
The César Márquez Pico Ferreira wine is fresh, subtle and enveloping. It has fine tannins, good acidity, some rusticity and a long finish.
A very harmonious and expressive wine.
Many consider that the best red wine of the César Márquez winery is the Pico Ferreira wine. It is an aged red wine, very harmonious and expressive, which combines perfectly with game meats, red meats, white meats, pasta cheeses, sausages and mushrooms.
We invite you to try this wine with your friends and family. We are sure you will have a great time and your guests will thank you for allowing them to taste this great red wine, so be sure to tell us about your experience!
