Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
This Langenlois wine comes from the coolish Steinberg, which combines bedrock with limestone soils, and was vinified in 300-liter barrels for five months, then disgorged after 50 months on the bottle lees in June of this year. The 2017 Brut Nature Blanc de Blancs Grosse Reserve offers a deep, clear, pure and elegant but most of all complex bouquet of luscious, ripe Chardonnay that fascinates with many layers. Aeration would really help to open up this superb sparkling wine. Full-bodied, intense and powerful but also pure and saline on the still young and even somewhat phenolic finish, this is a rich and generous but also refined and elegant sparkling wine bottled with 12.5% stated alcohol. Please aerate this, because it has a nice reduction and any phenols will oxidize in a decanter. Tasted at the domaine in September 2022.
