Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Coming from the Laychen plot above the village of Ferres that was planted in 1945, the 2015 Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Trocken was picked around the 20th of October at about 100° Oechsle. The healthy grapes of the picking were used for this dry wine whereas the botrytis grapes were processed for the Auslese quality. The Goldtröpfchen Trocken displays a very clear, ripe and intense Riesling and tropical fruit aroma intertwined with stony and smoky flavors. This is full-bodied, rich and powerful on the palate but also lush, piquant and elegant. This dry Goldtröpfchen reveals good, ripe, fine acidity and a very persistent finish with a good (tannin) grip. However, I miss a bit of lightness, transparency and finesse here. Total production; 400 liters!
